March 7, 2009
AMVETS Riders of Tennessee Chapter 101 roofed the home of WWII veteran Lloyd Tisdell. We had a great day! Although we are a new chapter, we have been out looking for projects to do in our community. We had a total of 36 people show up to help and we supplied all the volunteers with food and beverages. I think we're on the right track to help others.

Florida Riders Raise $2,625 for veterans charity
Feburary 28, 2009

Florida AMVETS Riders Chapter 2298 (Callaway, Fla.) President Mike Lozon presents a check for $2,625.00 to Soldiers' Angles representative John Adkins while members of the ride committee look on.

They are (from left) Kelly Patrick, Donna Adkins, Wayne Loughner, Paul Miller, John Adkins the “Soldiers’ Angels” representative, MikeLozon, Riders President, Jeff Ward and Penny Lozon.

More than 100 Riders braved the elements to participate in the AMVETS Riders Chapter 2298 Third Annual Charity Poker Run
on 28 February. This year's charity was Soldiers' Angels,

a volunteer-led non-profit organization providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and their families. "May No Soldier Go Unloved," encapsulates the motivation behind Soldiers' Angels. Locally, Soldiers' Angels was the organazition behind "Jeremys' House," a project in 2007 to replace a wounded Iraq War veteran's home in Panama City Beach.

The day started with an egg, bacon, sausage & biscuit breakfast at Post 2298 hosted by Relay for Life. Riders then ventured out on the 125 mile run through the surrounding counties including AMVETS Post 2073 before heading back to the home post. Upon return they were entertained with music, auctions and door prizes donated by area businesses. Even the high and low hand winners got into the spirit of giving by donating back some of their winnings. In all, more than $2,600.00 was raised for this worthy cause.
